Marine circular from the Captain of the Port :
From 1 January 2010 the EU Directive 2005/33/EC states that ships at berth, which includes ships at anchorage, for more than 2 hours in all ports in the EU, which includes Gibraltar and both anchorages, shall not use marine fuels (of any type) with a sulphur content exceeding 0.1% by mass.
Similarly from 1 January 2010, marine gas oil with sulphur content greater than 0.1% may not be placed on the market
